If we are gonna role-play realistically, I suggest no more that a hundred years into the future.
But do we really need separated role play? We would better off only have 1
I disagree. Some like to keep their feet on the ground, and some like to go on wild tangents with their creativity.
I'd suggest three major roleplay universes:
1. Real Earth: Our world. Cities and countries can interact with real-world counterparts. As realistic as possible, without the farfetched sci-fi stuff.
2. Real Not-Earth: Something like Strangereal of Ace Combat, where player cities and countries are the only ones present. However, realism should be somewhere between Real Earth and…
3. Sci-Fi: This is where the farfetched sci-fi stuff should go. Realism gets thrown right out of the window.
Of course, the three universes can interact to some degree: maybe someone from the Sci-Fi universe decides to go on a holiday in Real Earth or Real Not-Earth for instance. And there can also exist other universes, but I think these three should be the main ones.
