Day-night cycle

Post by Matison55557 » Tue Jun 12, 2018 19:30

Here's a plugin I've been working on recently (and I'll still work on it)
It's a day-night cycle. It doesn't have any effect on gameplay, but you might enjoy this plugin. :)

This plugin will be updated, it's not perfect yet ;) there are some changes to be made, I'll probably make the nights darker, make sunsets less pink, and fix some images to make transitions smoother.

Download

The plugin displays 24 images one after another, each one represents an hour in a day. Image changes every 10 days, which means that a "day" lasts 240 in-game days. I wanted to make it slow like that, so it doesn't get too annoying during gameplay.
Each image is a 72x72 picture. Previously I made some smaller 4x4 textures but I don't recommend using them as they don't look nice. They're still available in the plugin, in the folder original_version.

If any questions or suggestions please ask.
but if you ask about adding lights to buildings and stuff...

Note: I know shadows are wrong most of the time - I can't change them :P

So if the shadow stated in the same direction, you could say that the sun rises in the "North" and sets in the "South"

And this is in the southern hemisphere...

Just an i idea...

I was hoping that the buildings and lamps in the roads during night have light so that it can make it realistic. Thank you

It would be very difficult to add lights. Imagibe you have to do every building, car, train, basically everything that has lights in it. But if they manage to that would be great, if not its ok, cus its no easy feat.

We could use like a filter..

Code: Select all

>On buildings
 -> Replace [#blue Hexcode]
with [#yellow hexcode]
 -> when [night frames] visible.
But probably to complex...

Another way

Code: Select all

>On buildings
 -> Add [RGB, number] to [RGB, blue]
-> when [night frames] visible.

(So the display change the color of the 'different blue' tones to 'different yellow' tones.
Like a photo filter)
But hell, that's not gonna happen easily!

Notice that each building has a different color for windows, plus some are in the sun and some not. Also, not every light is on in every building.

It's better than nothing and personally, I wouldn't mind those problems.
