METROPOLITAN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWER!!! (long name btw)
Finished this building back in March (srry for the long wait)
This building if one of my "1920s-1930s" NYK skyscrapers project (of course there is the Chrysler and Empire in existence), which is also part of the "history of tallest buildings in the world" project.
SO background...
This building is built back in 1909, so it's now 111 years old.
Back in 1909, when it was completed, it was the tallest building in the world with an "astonishing" height of 700 ft (213 m), the first to break the 200 m and 700 ft mark.
It's major characteristics for the structure itself is the massive clock on 4 faces, each side of the tower. In fact, it's still one of the tallest clock towers in the world right now (the tallest being the Makkah Royal Clock Tower). Just this massive CLOCK, it makes the building a landmark and also a government preserved landmark for "later generations to admire".
It was the headquarters for the Met Life Company (the name too long to be told) until the 1930s.
