I feel like this should be a tutorial, actually.
To avoid copyright issues down the line, I decided to make my own textures for buildings. Problem is, I need a brick and copper roof texture.
So how do you people make your own textures, if you even do that?
How can I make my own textures?

You can Google search for any building images and use their colours.

Re: How can I make my own textures?
I would recommend making a bunch of 40x40 squares of texture that you can use as textures for any of your projects. It's very helpful, especially if you have GIMP, which can allow you to copy and paste a texture directly onto a surface. The best place to get textures like those is to look at pictures of real buildings and use those as textures.

Can you recommend any free texture libraries? Getting permission from the original poster is kinda annoying (tracking them down and all), and even after that they might not even reply.KINGTUT10101 wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018, 16:35I would recommend making a bunch of 40x40 squares of texture that you can use as textures for any of your projects. Re: How can I make my own textures?
I can't. I don't usually bother asking because the thing I'm taking from their picture is so small. I honestly have no idea if we are supposed to ask about stuff like that, but I wouldn't be too worried about it.
If you are still worried about copyright and whatnot you could always do this Pick a few main colors from the texture you want and make your own texture with them.

I could just argue de minimis, that is, I could just say that the thing I took was so small it doesn't matter? Huh.
Maybe I'll still credit the source when I post the plugin. Just seems nice.

In the world of taking 40x40p square from random photos, there are no rules
