Probably a hardware issue with you GPU. For plugins the solution would be to use slightly bigger images than needed. The best way would be to do it automatically. However, that would have a negative impact on available texture space.

Good questions, on the other hand, such issues aren't really deterministic. For example an Android update might lead to new issues or solve existing ones.
